History of George McCarthy Funeral Home
Originally located at 210 West Eighth St., the George McCarthy Funeral Home was founded in 1920 by George F. McCarthy Sr. It was known as the McCarthy-Brown Undertaking Company until Mr. McCarthy purchased the interest of Mr. Brown in 1924, changing the name to George McCarthy Funeral Home.
The business was moved to 401 Broadway after the flood of 1921. When George McCarthy left the business in 1946, his son, George F. McCarthy Jr., continued the family’s management of the firm.
Kevin F. McCarthy, son of George F. McCarthy Jr., was named president and chief operating officer of the firm in 1992.
George McCarthy Funeral Home is proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Our staff is from the Pueblo community, and we continue the standards and traditions set by the McCarthy family.
