Welcome to George McCarthy Funeral Home

The George McCarthy Funeral Home was founded in 1920 by George McCarthy Sr. and was originally housed at a location on 8th street, in downtown Pueblo. It was re-located to 401 Broadway after the devastating flood of 1921. George McCarthy Jr. became President of the firm in 1946. He increased the size of the physical campus in 1953 when he bought the Trinity Methodist Church (across the street from the funeral home). That structure is now the George McCarthy Historic Chapel – one of several Pueblo properties on the National Historic Register. In 1972 Mr. McCarthy merged the funeral home with five other Southern Colorado Funeral Homes and created the Almont Corporation. Kevin F. McCarthy succeeded his Father in business in 1988.
